Bruins forward Nathan Horton has informed GM Peter Chiarelli that he plans on testing unrestricted free agency and won't be signing a deal with Boston before free agency opens on July 5.

"It wasn't about numbers or money," Horton's agent Paul Krepelka told ESPN The Magazine, adding that it was a chance for a fresh start.

Danny Briere is set to become a free agent after the Flyers informed the veteran they intend to buy out the final two years of his contract, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

The source said that Briere and GM Paul Holmgren met last week, at which time the forward was informed of the team's decision.

Veteran defenseman Mark Streit, set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 5, will not return to the Islanders next season, sources told Newsday.

A source told ESPNNewYork.com that Streit is "likely" to be headed to free agency.

The Blackhawks have agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with standout free agent Finnish goaltender Antti Raanta, according to an ESPN.com report on Monday.

The goalie had a breakout season this year in the Finnish Elite League, where he was the regular-season and playoff MVP.
